Frequently Asked Questions

How does Calocurb work?

The active ingredient in calocurb is Amarasate™ – a specific New Zealand grown hop flower extract developed by Plant & Food Research, the largest Crown Research Institute in New Zealand.

Calocurb’s hop flower extract contains high levels of alpha acids – a recognised bitter compound. Research has demonstrated that bitter compounds support a feeling of satiety. With Calocurb’s patented capsule, the hop flower extract is delivered and, with the help of canola seed oil, released directly in the small intestine where it’s most effective.

What is intermittent fasting?

Your body has 2 states when it comes to eating and digestion – the ‘fed’ and ‘fasting’ state. Intermittent fasting is all about harnessing these states to support your weight and health goals. And unlocking the power of the body in the fasting state. In this stage, the body burns stored fat for energy.

Do I have to fast for Calocurb to work?

No. One of the best things with Calocurb is that you can change it around your daily schedule to find what suits you in terms of managing your appetite/hunger the most.

We recommend for the best results to combine Calocurb with intermittent fasting. However Calocurb is still effective to support managing cravings, hunger, snacking and portions controls without fasting.

How should I take calocurb?

In your first order, we will supply you with a fasting schedule which includes when to take your Calocurb to get the best results.

To take Calocurb we recommend:

Fasting: Take 1x Calocurb at 9am, 1pm, 4pm and 8pm. You can tailor your dosage daily, do not exceed 4 capsules per day. Having your first Calocurb at 9 am will help you complete your fast with no hunger pangs until noon. You can continue to take Calocurb throughout the day (at least 4 hours apart, 4 capsules max per day) to control your portion sizes during your eating window and cravings when your eating window finishes. Your fasting window begins again at 8 pm.

Not Fasting: Take 1x or 2x capsules one hour before your danger zone, twice daily.

Remember to keep up your fluid intake, lots of water and you can have black coffee and tea while you are fasting!

How long does a calocurb capsule last for?

Most people will feel the effect of Calocurb for several hours after taking a capsule. That is why we recommend taking your 1st capsule at 9am to help you complete your fast.

How is 90 capsules the supply for 1 month? What is the daily dosage?

We recommend using Calocurb while intermittent fasting. Take 1x Calocurb at 9am, 1pm, 4pm and 8pm. You can tailor your dosage daily, do not exceed 4 capsules per day.

Take only 1 Calocurb capsule per day for the first 48hrs.

Is calocurb a silver bullet for weight loss?

There are no silver bullets or magic pills when it comes to sustainable weight management. However, when used in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, Calocurb can be a reliable and effective tool to help manage appetite and support those working towards weight management goals.

For best results, try intermittent fasting while taking Calocurb.

Is calocurb safe to take?

A panel of five independent scientists recognised Calocurb as GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe). That’s not surprising considering Calocurb only contains three natural ingredients - hops flower, rosemary leaf and canola seed oil. None of which are associated with any long-term side effects.

That said, Calocurb is not intended for use by anyone under 18 years of age or for woman who are trying to get pregnant, pregnant or breastfeeding.

As with any dietary supplement, concerned customers should consult their healthcare provider before using Calocurb. Especially those with a medical condition, who are taking medications, or have known adverse reactions or allergies.

Are there any short-term side effects of taking calocurb?

Most people who try calocurb will experience no side effects. That said, individual physiological differences mean that some people may experience mild side effects associated with the biological effects of ingesting bitter compounds.

calocurb’s hop flower extract contains high levels of alpha – a recognised bitter compound. Research has demonstrated that bitter compounds support a feeling of fullness or satiety. With calocurb’s patent-pending capsule, the hop flower extract is delivered and, with the help of canola seed oil, released directly in the small intestine where it’s most effective.

In addition to supporting a feeling of fullness, bitter compounds can be associated with the effects of a mild laxative such as:
- Increased wind
- Stomach irritation
- Loose or more frequent bowel movements
- Indigestion

These are entirely normal reactions and demonstrate that the hops flower extract is having an effect.

Of those customers experiencing side effects, most report that these steadily reduce the longer they take calocurb. It can take the body time to adjust to regular doses of the extract - even if it is plant based and all natural.

For those whom calocurb just isn’t a good fit - we of course offer a 30-day money back guarantee, no questions asked so please get in touch.

How large are the capsules?

The Calocurb capsule measures approx. 2cm in length and 0.5cm in width and is a specifically designed soft gel capsule for ease when taking it.
It has to be taken in the capsule form so it doesn't digest in the stomach - the patented capsule allows it to be released in the small intestine where Calocurb will get to work to trigger the natural reaction of satiety after eating a 'bitter food'.

How do you know that calocurb is a vegetarian/gluten free product?

As a 100% plant-based, natural product, being verifiably vegetarian/gluten free is crucial for calocurb and our customers. We are proud to confirm that all our ingredients, including the capsule, are 100% plant-based and certifiably vegetarian/gluten-free.

What is the main active ingredient in calocurb?

The active ingredient in calocurb is Amarasate™ extract – a specific New Zealand grown hop flower extract developed by Plant & Food Research, the largest Crown Research Institute in New Zealand.

Do the capsules themselves taste bitter?

calocurb capsules are tasteless. Some customers may however notice a slight taste of hops on the breath after taking a capsule – similar to the taste of a hoppy craft beer.

Where does the Amarasate™ extract come from?

The Amarasate™ extract is derived from a specific hop flower variety grown commercially near Nelson in the South Island of New Zealand. It was developed by a team at Plant & Food Research, the largest Crown Research Institute in New Zealand.

Why canola oil?

Alongside our special capsule canola seed oil helps the hop extract release directly in the small intestine where it gets to work. Not only does it help your body absorb the hops extract, it’s rich in Omega-3s and low in saturated fats. We are currently using Non-GMO Expeller Pressed Canola Oil from the US. After hearing some feedback will soon be moving to a New Zealand sourced extra virgin rapeseed oil. As soon as we do we’ll let you know.

Can Calocurb be taken with a Keto diet?

Yes, Calocurb is great for supporting a Keto diet (amongst others) as it has no carbohydrates and helps with hunger during the first few weeks of doing Keto.

What is Fasting?

Intermittent fasting is not eating during certain hours of the day to support a multitude of health benefits.
In the simplest of terms – each day consists of a pattern that switches between periods of eating and not eating.

This ancient eating technique is surprisingly simple, doable, and is helping millions of people achieve healthy weight management and live healthier.

What Fasting ritual should I start on?

We want to see you succeed, so we would recommend the most popular style of fasting, the ‘16:8’.Put simply, you fast for 16 hours a day and limit your daily eating to 8 hours. This method is easy to start and sustainable for long term health goals. There are many other options, such as 18:6, 20:4, and so on, but we suggest you start slowly and let your body get used to fasting.

Does fasting count when I am asleep?

Yes, sleeping is a form of fasting & is even how breakfast earned its name(break-fast… get it?)

What happens when you fast?

If you take in less food energy than your body uses, your body relies on the stored fat and converts it to energy

What are the benefits of fasting?

There is a multitude of benefits associated with fasting:

- Fasting Supports Healthy Weight Management - Intermittent fasting supports a healthy metabolic rate, good energy levels, and beneficial fat metabolism.

- Fasting Supports Brain Health & The Nervous System
- Reduces oxidative stress.
- Fasting Supports Cardiovascular & Optimal Health
- New research suggests fasting may support healthy cholesterol levels & heart health.

Additionally, Fasting helps with healthy blood sugar and insulin levels, achieving a state of ketosis, Mental clarity and focus, cell regeneration

What are the simple things I can do while fasting to make it easier?

Drink water with electrolytes. It’s important to keep hydrated throughout the day to avoid dizziness and headaches while fasting.

Drink coffee & herbal tea. You don’t have to kick that coffee habit while fasting. You can drink caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee – black coffee is preferable however a splash of milk will not break your fast. You can have unlimited unflavoured herbal tea during your fasting period - woohoo!

Break your fast gently and eat well in between your fasting periods to make the most of your body’s amazing metabolic process.

And naturally, take Calocurb. Calocurb is clinically researched to support food cravings and appetite management during fasting

Can I change the way I fast?

Yes definitely! Adjust and adapt! Nothing is written in stone, and you can dictate your own fasting schedule. Another option for those
who do not like to skip breakfast is that you can eat between 9 am and 5 pm - starting your 8hr eating window at 9 am.

I’m worried about how hungry I’ll get.

Your hunger will come in waves but will not persist. Drinking lots of water and staying busy during a fast is very helpful! As the body
becomes accustomed to fasting, it starts to burn its stores of fat, which helps suppress hunger.

Taking Calocurb throughout the day will also help manage your hunger as you fast, and your appetite so you don’t binge when you
enter your eating window.

Who is suitable for intermittent fasting?

Although intermittent fasting brings plenty of health benefits and advantages, fasting is not for everyone. There are some reasons
you need to consider when attempting to try intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting carries certain risks. While fasting, the normal
amount of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients might not be ingested adequately. Fasting is not recommended for those:
- severely malnourished or underweight
- under eighteen years of age
- pregnant and breastfeeding
Others should also be cautious when fasting but do not necessarily need to avoid it. It is important to seek the advice of a health-care
professional before attempting therapeutic fasting for those who:
- have gout
- are taking medications
- have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
- have gastroesophageal reflux disease
